I chose the Corner Hotel webpage to re-design and before beginning the re-design process I looked at several other bar/pub websites to ascertain exactly what I liked and didn’t like about a pub website design. This involved looking at websites that catered towards live music functions and that carried a wide and varying clientele.
I decided to go with a very simplistic design for the new Corner Hotel website by using a basic contrasting black and white theme for the body columns and text, and also using a very neutral font (eras ITC) that is able to be varied yet also consistent throughout the website. This I feel provides a modern and clean approach that isn’t aimed at any particular market niche since the Corner Hotel is popular amongst varying patrons of different age, social statues and music tastes.
The header was created with the use of a photograph of coloured stage lights during a show. On top of this I have placed the re-vamp of the hotels logo cut out from a black background with ‘The CORNER Hotel’ written across in white. This incorporates the use of contrasting black and white that is the theme throughout the body of the website. The photograph of the stage lights ties in with the gigs web section and I am undecided if I want this image to change and relate to the page selected i.e. changing the photo from stage lights to a food related image whilst on the ‘rooftop bar & dining section’.
